The famous setting for Shakespeare's star-crossed lovers, Romeo and Juliet, Verona is one of northern Italy's main tourist destinations, largely owing to its incredibly rich artistic heritage.
Step off the beaten path and head to Borghetto sul Mincio and Museo di Castelvecchio. Get a sense of the local culture at Piazza delle Erbe and Palazzo Te. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Verona: Lago di Garda (in Garda) and Castello Scaligero di Malcesine (in Malcesine).
