Bourg-en-Bresse is a commune in eastern France, capital of the Ain department, and the capital of the ancient province of Bresse (Arpitan: Brêsse). Venture out of the city with trips to Hameau Duboeuf (in Romaneche-Thorins), La Maison de La Vache qui rit (in Lons-le-Saunier) and Tournus (Abbaye Saint-Philibert & Les Vignerons de Mancey). Lyon is a historical city with a vibrant cultural scene as the birthplace of cinema, the silk capital of the globe, and the second biggest Renaissance city following Venice.

"Situated near the massive peaks of the Aiguilles Rouges and, most notably, the Aiguille du Midi, Chamonix is one of the oldest ski resorts in France and known as the Alpine Capital of the World.
Go for a jaunt from Chamonix to Macot-la-Plagne to see Oxygene Ski School La Plagne about 1h 25 min away. There's much more to do: stroll through Aiguille du Midi, stroll the grounds of Chamonix Cemetery, take in the awesome beauty at Brevent Cable Car, and head outdoors with Compagnie du Mont Blanc.

Traveling by car from Lyon to Chamonix takes 2.5 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of train and bus; or take a bus. On the 11th (Wed), wrap the sightseeing up by early afternoon so you can drive back home.
