Venture out of the city with trips to Nuuksio National Park (in Espoo), Sapokka Water Garden (in Kotka) and Porvoo Old Town (in Porvoo). You'll explore the less-touristy side of things at Vapriikin Museokeskus and Tampereen Tuomiokirkko. Step out of Tampere to go to Hameenlinna and see Ahvenisto, which is approximately 54 minutes away. An urban center set amongst the great Arctic wilderness, Rovaniemi serves as the capital of Lapland province.
Start off your visit on the 8th (Wed): pause for some serene contemplation at Rovaniemi Church, then see exotic creatures in open habitats at a safari tour, then see Santa Claus Office, and finally don't miss a visit to Santa Claus Village.
