Founded in the 10th century as a Viking fishing village, Copenhagen has morphed into the cultural, political, and economic powerhouse of the country.
Step out of the city life by going to Mons Klint and Jaegerborg Dyrehave. Deepen your sense of the past at sights like Nyhavn and Our Saviour's Church. Go for a jaunt from Copenhagen to Keldby to see Keldby Church about 1h 25 min away. Located on the sea, Aarhus blends a world city with a small-town feel. Home to a young population, the city has a reputation for producing internationally known pop and rock musicians.
Get some historical perspective at Mollestien and Vor Frue Kirke. Step off the beaten path and head to Danmarks Industrimuseum and Musikhuset Aarhus. Venture out of the city with trips to Ree Park Safari (in Ebeltoft) and Kalo Slotsruin (in Roende).
