You might consider the city of Budapest, divided by the Danube River into two distinctive cities--Buda and Pest--to be essentially one large World Heritage Site.

Spend time in one of Europe's oldest cities, the vibrant Bulgarian capital of Sofia.
Step out of the city life by going to Vitosha Mountain and Borovets Ski Resort. Museum-lovers will get to explore Galeria Nina and Battenberg Mausoleum. Take a break from Sofia with a short trip to Rila Monastery in Rila, about 1h 30 min away.
