Located at the center of Yamaguchi Prefecture, the regional capital of Yamaguchi is renowned for its temples and shrines.
Start off your visit on the 30th (Mon): take in the spiritual surroundings of Shoin Shrine, steep yourself in history at Shoka Village School, contemplate the long history of Hagi Castle Town, don't miss a visit to Kikuya Family Residence, then indulge in Japan's hot spring tradition at some of the top local onsens, and finally make a trip to Ruriko Temple Five-Story Pagoda. On the 31st (Tue), you'll have a packed day of sightseeing: take in the spiritual surroundings of Yamaguchi Xavier Memorial Church, make a trip to Kozan Park, take in the spiritual surroundings of Rurikoji Temple, then take in nature's colorful creations at Jyoei Temple Sesshu Garden, and finally enjoy breathtaking views from Akiyoshidai Karst Observatory.
