Pearl of the Orient

The capital of the Philippines and the "Pearl of the Orient," Manila truly resembles a gem: rough on the outside, but glittering within.
On the 24th (Thu), admire nature's wide array of creatures at Manila Ocean Park, walk around Rizal Park, and then steep yourself in history at Fort Santiago. On your second day here, take in the spiritual surroundings of San Agustin Church, wander the streets of Intramuros, and then look for gifts at SM Mall of Asia.

To see ratings, reviews, where to stay, and more tourist information, use the Manila trip tool.

In June in Manila, expect temperatures between 39°C during the day and 30°C at night. Cap off your sightseeing on the 25th (Fri) early enough to travel back home.

One of the world's largest and most densely populated islands, Luzon serves as the political and economic center of the Philippines, containing two the country's biggest and most important urban centers. In this culturally rich corner of the Philippine archipelago, a vacation in Luzon can traverse two distinct landscapes, each offering a set of memorable experiences. The northern section of the island appeals to intrepid explorers with its jungles, mountain villages, deep caves, and sandy beaches. Meanwhile, the southern portion remains one of the least explored parts of the country, where you can easily venture off the beaten tourist path and spend weeks discovering active volcanoes, historic ruins, and lush nature parks.
