With the largest international airport on the island, Chitose serves for most visitors as a way in or a way out, rather than a destination in itself.
Kick off your visit on the 21st (Fri): explore the activities along Lake Shikotsu, then take in the awesome beauty at Mount Tarumae, then enjoy some diversion at Hello Kitty Happy Flight, and finally see the interesting displays at Royce' Chocolate World. Get ready for a full day of sightseeing on the next day: stroll around Aoba Park, then explore and take pictures at Shadai Stallion Station, then indulge in Japan's hot spring tradition at some of the top local onsens, and finally don't miss a visit to Ojiseishi Chitose Power Plant 1.

If you are flying in from Indonesia, the closest major airports are New Chitose Airport, Asahikawa Airport and Hakodate Airport. In June, plan for daily highs up to 22°C, and evening lows to 13°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 22nd (Sat) early enough to travel back home.
