Situated in a basin between two mountain ranges, Taipei appeals to tourists with its blend of Asian cultures, living side by side amidst Japanese-era mansions and Taoist temples.
Go for a jaunt from Taipei to Ruifang to see Chiufen (Jiufen Old Street) about 46 minutes away. There's still lots to do: get engrossed in the history at National Palace Museum, admire the striking features of Taipei 101, don't miss a visit to Chiang Kai-Shek Memorial Hall, and contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Hsing Tian Kong.

Singapore, Singapore to Taipei is an approximately 11-hour flight. You can also fly; or do a combination of car and ferry. Traveling from Singapore in December, expect nights in Taipei to be a bit cooler, around 18°C, while days are colder, around 23°C. Cap off your sightseeing on the 24th (Tue) early enough to go by car to Yilan City.

Yilan City is a city and the county seat of Yilan County, Taiwan. On the 25th (Wed), take in nature's colorful creations at Artemis Garden, then examine the collection at Bee Museum, The Honey House, then sample the fine beverages at King Car Kavalan Distillery, and finally don't miss a visit to Jimi Square - Yilan Station. On the next day, see the interesting displays at Agrioz, don't miss a visit to Memorial Hall of Founding of Yilan Administration, and then browse the different shops at Luna Plaza.

You can drive from Taipei to Yilan City in an hour. Other options are to take a bus; or take a train. Expect a daytime high around 23°C in December, and nighttime lows around 18°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 26th (Thu) early enough to fly to Kaohsiung.

A small trading town in the 17th century, Kaohsiung now stands as a sprawling metropolis, its harbor representing the largest on the island.
Start off your visit on the 27th (Fri): head off the coast to Cijin Island and then examine the collection at Chimei Museum. Keep things going the next day: get outside with Ai He (Love River), enjoy breathtaking views from Kaohsiung Main Public Library, don't miss a visit to The Dome of Light, then view the masterpieces at The Pier-2 Art Centre, and finally don't miss a visit to Dragon Tiger Tower.

Traveling by flight from Yilan City to Kaohsiung takes 3.5 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of bus and train; or drive. When traveling from Yilan City in December, plan for somewhat warmer days and about the same nights in Kaohsiung: temperatures range from 29°C by day to 20°C at night. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 28th (Sat) to allow time to take a train to Taichung.

Known its good weather, Taichung boasts an interesting set of cultural attractions, including many temples showing the development of religious architectural styles in the area and forming focal points for most tours of Taichung.
Kick off your visit on the 29th (Sun): engage your brain at National Museum of Natural Science, then look for all kinds of wild species at Gaomei Wetland, and then make a trip to Tunghai University. Get ready for a full day of sightseeing on the next day: take in the awesome beauty at Hehuanshan National Forest Recreation Area and then experience rural life at Cingjing Veterans Farm.

Traveling by train from Kaohsiung to Taichung takes 2 hours. Alternatively, you can drive; or take a bus. Prepare for a bit cooler weather when traveling from Kaohsiung in December: high temperatures in Taichung hover around 24°C and lows are around 15°C. Wrap up your sightseeing by early afternoon on the 31st (Tue) to allow time for the train ride to Taipei.
