Called "Oporto" by many, the city of Porto along the Duoro River lent the country and Port wine their names. Portugal's second-largest metropolis dates back to the 4th century, representing both a rich cultural past and industrial present through its architecture and style.
Head to Palacio da Bolsa and Mercado Bom Sucessofor plenty of shopping. Explore hidden gems such as Porto Augusto's and Cockburn’s Port Wine Lodge. And it doesn't end there: steep yourself in history at Porto Cathedral (Se Catedral), do a tasting at Quinta dos Corvos, pause for some serene contemplation at Igreja do Carmo, and contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Capela das Almas.

Traveling by flight from Lisbon to Porto takes 2.5 hours. Alternatively, you can take a train; or drive. While traveling from Lisbon, expect little chillier days and about the same nights in Porto, ranging from highs of 21°C to lows of 11°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 30th (Tue) early enough to drive to Pinhao.
