Sweeping beaches, towering hilltops, and picturesque vineyards adorn the landscape of Cape Town, dominated by the imposing Table Mountain.
Visiting Boulders Beach Penguin Colony and Cape Point will get you outdoors. Head to Greenmarket Square and Cape Quarter Mallfor some retail therapy. Stilbaai, also known as the Bay of Sleeping Beauty, is a town along the southern coast of South Africa about four hours by car from Cape Town. Get in touch with nature at Sanbona Wildlife Reserve and Lappiesbaai Beach. Explore Stilbaai's surroundings by going to De Hoop Nature Reserve (in Bredasdorp), Bontebok National Park (in Swellendam) and St Mathew's Anglican Church (in Riversdale). There's more to do: take in the exciting artwork at Hardys Memories of Africa African Art and Curios and sample the fine beverages at Inverroche Distillery.

As one of South Africa's most popular beach destinations, the resort town of Plettenberg Bay comes to life in December and January, when the holiday homes fill up with domestic tourists and foreigner visitors.

Take a break from the city and head to Knysna Heads and Garden Route National Park.
