Sitting fairly close to the mainland and just a short boat ride from Bocas del Toro International Airport, the well-connected but still preserved Isla Bastimentos offers access to a national park of protected rainforest and coastline, as well as an abundance of small, uninhabited islands dotted just offshore.
On the 28th (Sat), stroll through Red Frog Beach.

Getting from Boquete to Isla Bastimentos by combination of car and ferry takes about 4 hours. Other options: do a combination of bus and ferry. March in Isla Bastimentos sees daily highs of 75°F and lows of 75°F at night. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 29th (Sun) so you can catch the ferry to Bocas Town.

Arguably the most modern of Central American cities, Panama City boasts a shimmering skyline of glass skyscrapers.
Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Iglesia del Carmen and La Praline Chocolatier. Change things up with a short trip to Gatun Locks in Colon (about 1h 40 min away). There's still lots to do: surround yourself with nature on a nature and wildlife tour, take an in-depth tour of Museo del Canal Interoceanico de Panama, steep yourself in history at Plaza de Francia, and explore the activities along Gatun Lake.
