City of Churches

Head to Feria Modelo de Ovalle and La Recova Municipal Marketfor some retail therapy. You'll find plenty of places to visit near La Serena: Reserva Nacional Pinguino de Humboldt (in Punta Choros), Ovalle (Plaza de armas de Ovalle & Museo del Limari) and Pisco Elqui (Dona Josefa de Elqui - Pisco Artesanal, Iglesia de Pisco de Elqui, & more). Spend the 9th (Tue) exploring nature at Fray Jorge National Park. There's lots more to do: pause for some serene contemplation at Iglesia Chica de Andacollo, look and learn at Cerro Tololo Inter-American Observatory, take an unorthodox tour of Valle del Elqui, and appreciate the history behind Cruz Del Tercer Milenio.
