Ishigaki, the most populous island in the chain, features the country's southernmost city and acts as a transport hub for exploring the landmasses that surround.
We've included these beaches for you: Yonehara Beach and Fusaki Beach. Visiting Kabira Bay and Ishigaki Island Limestone Cave will get you outdoors. Spend the 10th (Tue) among aquatic life with a scuba or snorkeling tour. The village of Zamami-son in the western Kerama Islands spans four of the islands in the group, one of which remains uninhabited.
Take a break from the city and head to Gahijima Sand Dune and Furuzamami Beach. You'll enjoy a bit of beach vacationing at Nishibama Beach and Tokashiku Beach. The national capital for over a thousand years, Kyoto retains much of the charm of old Japan, boasting numerous temples and shrines that seem completely untouched by the modern world.
Take a break from the city and head to Nara Park and Yase Momiji no Komichi. Change things up with a short trip to Dotonbori in Osaka (about 1h 10 min away). The adventure continues: steep yourself in history at Kiyomizu-dera Temple, make a trip to Heian Shrine, take in the spiritual surroundings of Fushimi Inari-taisha Shrine, and explore the historical opulence of Nijo Castle.

Traveling by flight from Onna-son to Kyoto takes 5 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of flight and train; or do a combination of ferry and train. Traveling from Onna-son in September, Kyoto is slightly colder at night with lows of 23°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 18th (Wed) early enough to take a train to Shimoda.
