Get a sense of the local culture at Tokyo National Museum and Edo-Tokyo Museum. Let the collections at The Hakone Open-Air Museum and Wa Space capture your imagination. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Tokyo: Hase-dera Temple (in Kamakura) and Ghibli Museum Mitaka (in Mitaka). Ishigaki

Ishigaki, the most populous island in the chain, features the country's southernmost city and acts as a transport hub for exploring the landmasses that surround.
Head to Yurateiku Market and Nei Museum of Artfor plenty of shopping. Get in touch with nature at Scuba & Snorkeling and Kabira Bay. Next up on the itinerary: explore the gorgeous colors at Kabira Ishizaki Manta Scramble, glide peacefully along the water with some of the best stand-up paddleboarding in the area, enjoy the sea views from Cape Hirakubozaki, and snap pictures at Nagurao Bridge.

Museum-lovers will get to explore Kyoto Museum of Traditional Crafts Fureaikan and Museum of Oriental Ceramics. Nara Park and Dotonbori are good opportunities to explore the local culture. Explore the numerous day-trip ideas around Kyoto: Osaka Castle (in Osaka) and Nigatsu-do Temple (in Nara). There's still lots to do: take in the spiritual surroundings of Kiyomizu-dera Temple, contemplate the long history of Sanjusangendo Temple, don't miss a visit to Nishiki Market, and step into the grandiose world of Nijo Castle.

Take a train from Hiroshima to Kyoto in 2 hours. Alternatively, you can drive; or take a bus. Expect a daytime high around 89°F in July, and nighttime lows around 76°F. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 24th (Wed) early enough to drive to Fujikawaguchiko-machi.
