Sligo

Despite its small size, Sligo serves as a major center of culture, commerce, and entertainment in the northwestern section of Ireland.
Explore the numerous day-trip ideas around Sligo: Downpatrick Head (in Ballycastle), Arigna Mining Experience (in Roscommon) and Ballina (Horseback Riding Tours, The Irish Potato Famine Exhibition, & more). There's still lots to do: stroll the grounds of Carrowmore Megalithic Cemetery, contemplate the long history of Moyne Abbey, make a trip to Sligo Abbey, and take in the awesome beauty at Knocknarea.

Valletta, Malta to Sligo is an approximately 10.5-hour combination of flight and bus. You can also do a combination of flight and train; or do a combination of flight, shuttle, and bus. The time zone changes from Central European Time (CET) to Greenwich Mean Time (GMT), which is usually a -1 hour difference. When traveling from Valletta in June, plan for much colder days and a bit cooler nights in Sligo: temperatures range from 19°C by day to 15°C at night. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 29th (Mon) early enough to drive to Achill Island.
