Founded as a military outpost in 1826, Albany is the oldest town in Western Australia, just barely gaining this title by being settled two years earlier than Fremantle and Perth.
Step off the beaten path and head to Shelley Beach and Field of Light: Avenue of Honour. You'll enjoy a bit of beach vacationing at Lights Beach and Cheynes Beach. Explore Albany's surroundings by going to Cosy Corner Beach (in Kronkup), Lowlands Beach (in Lowlands) and Denmark (Castelli Cellar Door, Greens Pool, &more).
