You can do a combination of ferry and flight from Toronto to Ottawa in 3.5 hours. Alternatively, you can drive; or take a train. Expect a bit cooler temperatures when traveling from Toronto in January; daily highs in Ottawa reach -6°C and lows reach -16°C. On the 8th (Wed), you'll have the morning to explore before heading back home.
