Known as one of the greatest small cities in the world, Amsterdam charms visitors with its cool and cozy atmosphere.
Step off the beaten path and head to Museum Quarter and Canals area. Get out of town with these interesting Amsterdam side-trips: Nieuwe Kerk (in Delft), Rotterdam (Markthal, Erasmus Bridge, &more) and Utrecht (It's a Present! & Dom Tower). There's still lots to do: see the interesting displays at Zaanse Schans, explore the world behind art at Rijksmuseum, steep yourself in history at Museum Het Rembrandthuis (Rembrandt House), and contemplate the waterfront views at The Amstel.

San Jose, Costa Rica to Amsterdam is an approximately 15.5-hour flight. The time zone changes from Central Standard Time (CST) to Central European Standard Time (CET), which is usually a 7 hour difference. Traveling from San Jose in September, expect Amsterdam to be a bit cooler, temps between 22°C and 13°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 27th (Sun) early enough to drive to Kaatsheuvel.

Kaatsheuvel is a village in the Dutch province of North Brabant, situated along highways N261 and N628. On the 28th (Mon), appreciate the history behind De Kerkhovense Molen and then get in on the family fun at Efteling. Get ready for a full day of sightseeing on the 29th (Tue): learn about wildlife with up-close encounters at Safaripark Beekse Bergen, then take in the spiritual surroundings of St. John's Cathedral, and then steep yourself in history at World Heritage Kinderdijk.

You can drive from Amsterdam to Kaatsheuvel in 1.5 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of train and bus; or take a train. In September, plan for daily highs up to 23°C, and evening lows to 11°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 29th (Tue) to allow enough time to drive to Maastricht.

With 1,677 national heritage sites, Maastricht is a town rich in history.
On the 30th (Wed), stop by Adriaan de Smaakmaker, go for a walk through Boekhandel Dominicanen, then make a trip to Vrijthof, and finally explore the fascinating underground world of Maastricht Underground. Get ready for a full day of sightseeing on the 1st (Thu): test your team's savvy at Mystery House, then admire nature's wide array of creatures at GaiaZOO, then stroll the grounds of Netherlands American Cemetery, and finally admire the natural beauty at Beeldentuin Maastricht.

Arnhem is known mostly for its John Frost Bridge, which the British tried to secure during World War II.
You'll discover tucked-away gems like Nederlands Openluchtmuseum and Apenheul. Get out of town with these interesting Arnhem side-trips: Rock City Escape (in Amersfoort), Paleis Het Loo (in Apeldoorn) and Otterlo (Kroller-Muller Museum & Oerrr op het Mosselse Zand). There's lots more to do: meet the residents at Burgers' Zoo and Safaripark, learn about all things military at Informatiecentrum De Polen van Driel, explore the different monuments and memorials at Airborne Cemetery, and examine the collection at Museumstation Beekbergen.
