A seaside playground in the Caribbean, Rincon was a small agricultural and fishing town until it hosted the 1968 World Surfing Championship.
You'll explore the less-touristy side of things at El Faro Lighthouse and Hacienda Buena Vista. Museum-lovers will get to explore Museo de Arte de Ponce and Rincon Art Walk. Explore Rincon's surroundings by going to Cabo Rojo (Playa Sucia & Los Morrillos Lighthouse), Ponce (Centro Cultural Carmen Sola de Pereira de Ponce, Parque de Bombas, & more) and Parroquia San Jose De La Montana (in Lares). There's lots more to do: take a pleasant ride with a tour on horseback, take in the exciting artwork at Playa Oeste Gallery, don't miss a visit to Monumento al Cacique Mabodamaca, and enjoy the sand and surf at Crashboat Beach.

For maps, ratings, reviews, and more tourist information, use the Rincon online day trip planner .

Portland, USA to Rincon is an approximately 12.5-hour combination of flight and car. Due to the time zone difference, you'll lose 1 hour traveling from Portland to Rincon. Prepare for warmer weather when traveling from Portland in December: high temperatures in Rincon hover around 84°F and lows are around 77°F. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 24th (Tue) to allow time to travel to Isla de Vieques.

Isla de Vieques

For sixty years until 2003, most of the Isla de Vieques was closed off to the public, with the US Navy using the island's beaches and surrounding waters for drills and testing of new military machinery, such as bombs.
You'll explore the less-touristy side of things at La Chiva and Stand-Up Paddleboarding. Do your shopping at Siddhia Hutchinson Fine Art Gallery and Isla Vida. The adventure continues: tour the pleasant surroundings at Caracas Beach, take in the waterfront at Malecon, take some stellar pictures from Puerto Ferro Lighthouse, and take a pleasant ride with a tour on horseback.
