Founded in 1535 by Spanish explorer Francisco Pizarro, Lima represents an interesting blend of modern attractions and preserved colonial architecture, much of it clustered in the World Heritage-listed city center.
Lima is known for parks, historic sites, museums, shopping, and nightlife. Your plan includes some of its best attractions: get engrossed in the history at Museo Larco, pause for some serene contemplation at Iglesia y Convento de San Francisco, ponder the design of Plaza de Armas (Plaza Mayor), and enjoy the sand and surf at Playa Kon-Tiki.

Ottawa, Canada to Lima is an approximately 11-hour flight. You can also do a combination of train and flight. Traveling from Ottawa in March, things will get much warmer in Lima: highs are around 32°C and lows about 24°C. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 9th (Mon) so you can travel to Arequipa.

Traveling by flight from Lima to Arequipa takes 2 hours. Alternatively, you can drive; or take a bus. In March, Arequipa is a bit cooler than Lima - with highs of 22°C and lows of 12°C. Cap off your sightseeing on the 12th (Thu) early enough to go by car to Puno.

Hugging the western tip of Lake Titicaca, Puno serves as a melting pot of indigenous and imported cultures, and makes a great base for explorations around the region.
On the 13th (Fri), step off the mainland to explore Uros Floating Islands, take some stellar pictures from Mirador Ing. Eduardo Sanchez, and then step off the mainland to explore Taquile Island. On the 14th (Sat), you'll have a packed day of sightseeing: head outdoors with Outdoor Activities, then explore the activities along Lake Titicaca, and then pause for some photo ops at Arco Deustua.

You can drive from Arequipa to Puno in 4.5 hours. Another option is to take a bus. Expect a bit cooler evenings in Puno when traveling from Arequipa in March, with lows around 3°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 14th (Sat) so you can travel to Cusco.

You can do a combination of bus and flight from Puno to Cusco in 3 hours. Alternatively, you can drive; or take a bus. Plan for somewhat warmer nights when traveling from Puno in March since evenings lows in Cusco dip to 9°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 17th (Tue) so you can travel to Machu Picchu.
