Founded in 1535 by Spanish explorer Francisco Pizarro, Lima represents an interesting blend of modern attractions and preserved colonial architecture, much of it clustered in the World Heritage-listed city center.
Kids will enjoy Playa Penascal and Playa Kon-Tiki. Deepen your sense of the past at sights like Huaca Pucllana and Iglesia y Convento de San Francisco. There's much more to do: get a taste of the local shopping with Shopping Center Larcomar (Centro Comercial Larcomar), wander the streets of Miraflores, browse for treasures at Antiguedades El Portal, and get a dose of the wild on a nature and wildlife tour.

Toronto, Canada to Lima is an approximately 11-hour flight. You can also do a combination of ferry and flight; or do a combination of shuttle and flight. Traveling from Toronto in December, expect Lima to be warmer, temps between 28°C and 22°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 19th (Thu) so you can travel to Arequipa.
