Situated on the banks of the lower Loire river, Blois opens doors to many activities centered along the banks of the river.
Your inner history buff will appreciate Hotel Groslot and Domaine National de Chambord. Step off the beaten path and head to Musee des Beaux-Arts and Escalier Denis Papin. Get out of town with these interesting Blois side-trips: Orleans (Centre-ville, Place du Martroi, &more), Marche Dominical d'Amboise (in Amboise) and Plou Et Fils (in Charge). Discover France's rich medieval history in Angers, a medium-sized city well known for its medicinal and culinary gardens dating back to the Renaissance and still open for a visit.
Step off the beaten path and head to Musee des Beaux-Arts and Jardin des Plantes. Popular historic sites such as Collegiale Saint-Martin and Eglise Sainte-Therese are in your itinerary. Take a break from Angers with a short trip to Maison des Vins d'Anjou et de Saumur in Saumur, about 50 minutes away.
