Tokyo holds the status of most populous metropolitan area in the world--a fact you'll find tangible as you walk the bustling streets and explore its diverse neighborhoods and cultures.
Tokyo National Museum and The Hakone Open-Air Museum will appeal to museum buffs. For shopping fun, head to Ginza or Asakusa. Go for a jaunt from Tokyo to Mitaka to see Ghibli Museum Mitaka about 44 minutes away. There's much more to do: wander the streets of Odaiba, don't miss a visit to Tokyo Metropolitan Government Buildings, contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Sensō-ji, and get a taste of the local shopping with Takeshita Street.

Sydney, Australia to Tokyo is an approximately 12.5-hour flight. You can also do a combination of flight and train. Traveling from Sydney to Tokyo, you'll gain 1 hour due to the time zone difference. Traveling from Sydney in November, things will get a bit cooler in Tokyo: highs are around 19°C and lows about 11°C. Cap off your sightseeing on the 23rd (Sat) early enough to travel to Kyoto.

The national capital for over a thousand years, Kyoto retains much of the charm of old Japan, boasting numerous temples and shrines that seem completely untouched by the modern world.
Get a sense of the local culture at Gion and Nara Park. Museum-lovers will get to explore Museum of Oriental Ceramics and Kyoto Museum of Traditional Crafts Fureaikan. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Kyoto: Osaka (Dotonbori & Osaka Castle) and Todai-ji Temple (in Nara). There's lots more to do: steep yourself in history at Kiyomizu-dera Temple, take in the spiritual surroundings of Kinkaku-ji, step into the grandiose world of Nijo Castle, and stop by Fuuka-Kimono.

Traveling by train from Tokyo to Kyoto takes 3 hours. Alternatively, you can fly; or drive. In November, plan for daily highs up to 19°C, and evening lows to 10°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 27th (Wed) early enough to take a train to Hiroshima.

You can take a train from Kyoto to Hiroshima in 2 hours. Alternatively, you can drive; or take a bus. Expect a daytime high around 20°C in November, and nighttime lows around 11°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 30th (Sat) to allow time to travel to Ishigaki.

Ishigaki, the most populous island in the chain, features the country's southernmost city and acts as a transport hub for exploring the landmasses that surround.
Step out of the city life by going to Kabira Bay and Stand-Up Paddleboarding. Spend the 3rd (Tue) among aquatic life with a scuba or snorkeling tour. Next up on the itinerary: visit a coastal fixture at Cape Hirakubozaki, explore the gorgeous colors at Kabira Ishizaki Manta Scramble, enjoy the sand and surf at Akashi Beach, and take in the views from Nagurao Bridge.

Getting from Hiroshima to Ishigaki by combination of train and flight takes about 5.5 hours. Other options: fly. Traveling from Hiroshima in November, you will find days in Ishigaki are somewhat warmer (31°C), and nights are much hotter (25°C). Finish up your sightseeing early on the 3rd (Tue) so you can travel to Onna-son.

Onna-son

Located on the coast in the middle of the island, Onna-son has become known for its beaches and seaside economy.
On the 4th (Wed), take in the dramatic natural features at Cape Manzamo, then look for gifts at Onna Station Nakayukui Market, and then identify plant and animal life at Wildlife Areas. On the next day, enjoy the sand and surf at Akabaka Beach, then explore the gorgeous colors at Sesoko Labyrinth, and then enjoy the sand and surf at Diamond Beach.
