Tokyo holds the status of most populous metropolitan area in the world--a fact you'll find tangible as you walk the bustling streets and explore its diverse neighborhoods and cultures.
Get some cultural insight at Ginza and Tokyo National Museum. Get outdoors at Odaiba Kaihin Koen (Odaiba Seaside Park) and Sumida River. Change things up with a short trip to Mt. Takao in Hachioji (about 1h 05 min away). There's still lots to do: make a trip to Tsukiji Market, take in the spiritual surroundings of Sensō-ji, wander the streets of Marunouchi, and get a sense of history and politics at Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building.

A city jurisdiction formed after the merger of several towns in 2005, Miyakojima spans six linked-up islands.
On the 22nd (Thu), stroll through Boraga Limestone Cave. On the 23rd (Fri), you'll have a packed day of sightseeing: hunt for treasures at Atarasu Ichiba, kick back and relax at Yonaha Maehama Beach, and then kick back and relax at Nagamahama Beach Coast.

On the 25th (Sun), kick back and relax at Yonehara Beach, get outside with Cape Hirakubozaki, and then see the interesting displays at Tamatorizaki Observatory. Fly from Miyakojima to Ishigaki in an hour. In March, daytime highs in Ishigaki are 73°F, while nighttime lows are 65°F. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 27th (Tue) so you can catch the ferry to Taketomi-jima Taketomi-cho.

A tiny island in the Yae-yama archipelago, Taketomi-jima enjoys popularity as a beach getaway, best known for its stretches of "star sand"--sand made up of tiny star-shaped exoskeletons of ancient fossils.
Kick off your visit on the 27th (Tue): delve into the lush surroundings at Mangrove at Ishinagata Beach, then kick back and relax at Kaiji Beach, then kick back and relax at Kondoi Beach, and finally get great views at Nagomi Tower.

Taketomi-jima Taketomi-cho is just a stone's throw from Ishigaki. March in Taketomi-jima Taketomi-cho sees daily highs of 73°F and lows of 65°F at night. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 28th (Wed) so you can travel to Osaka.

The national capital for over a thousand years, Kyoto retains much of the charm of old Japan, boasting numerous temples and shrines that seem completely untouched by the modern world.
On the 28th (Wed), take in the spiritual surroundings of Kinkaku-ji and then enjoy the sand and surf at Makino Sunny Beach. On the next day, wander the streets of Gion, then browse the different shops at Kyoto Station Building, and then admire the masterpieces at Miho Museum.

You can do a combination of ferry, flight, and train from Taketomi-jima Taketomi-cho to Kyoto in 5.5 hours. Traveling from Taketomi-jima Taketomi-cho in March, expect nights in Kyoto to be cooler, around 40°F, while days are a bit cooler, around 56°F. On the 30th (Fri), wrap the sightseeing up by early afternoon so you can take a train to Osaka.
