Tokyo holds the status of most populous metropolitan area in the world--a fact you'll find tangible as you walk the bustling streets and explore its diverse neighborhoods and cultures.
Your day by day itinerary now includes Tokyo Disneyland. Step off the beaten path and head to Hokokuji Temple (Takedera Temple) and Ueno District. Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine and Kencho-ji Temple are good opportunities to explore the local culture. Next up on the itinerary: take a stroll through Odaiba District.

Near the confluence of the Chikuma and Sai rivers, Nagano combines historic sites with nearby forested alps dotted with shrines.
On the 28th (Mon), contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Saiho-ji Temple, take in the spiritual surroundings of Zenkoji Sesonin Shakado Temple, take in the spiritual surroundings of Zenko-ji Temple, then witness the site of a historic battle at Old Battlefield of Kawanakajima, then steep yourself in history at Matsushiro, and finally contemplate the long history of Sanada House. You can take a train from Tokyo to Nagano in 2.5 hours. Other options are to drive; or take a bus. Prepare for a bit cooler weather when traveling from Tokyo in September: high temperatures in Nagano hover around 28°C and lows are around 20°C. Cap off your sightseeing on the 29th (Tue) early enough to catch the train to Kyoto.

The national capital for over a thousand years, Kyoto retains much of the charm of old Japan, boasting numerous temples and shrines that seem completely untouched by the modern world.
Satisfy your inner culture vulture at Kiyomizu-dera Temple and Koyasan Okunoin. Your inner history buff will appreciate Nijo Castle and Eikando Zenrinji Temple. Explore Kyoto's surroundings by going to Dotombori District (in Dotombori), Ise (Ise Shrine Geku & Sengukan) and Nara (Toshodai-ji Temple, Nigatsu-do Temple, &more). There's still lots to do: steep yourself in history at Tofuku-ji Temple, contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Kennin-ji Temple, and tour the pleasant surroundings at Nanzen-ji Temple.

You can take a train from Nagano to Kyoto in 4 hours. Alternatively, you can drive; or do a combination of train, subway, and flight. Traveling from Nagano in September, you will find days in Kyoto are a bit warmer (33°C), and nights are about the same (23°C). Finish up your sightseeing early on the 3rd (Sat) so you can catch the train to Hiroshima.

Grapple with history and appreciate modernity in Hiroshima, a city known around the world for its tragic past and inspiring rebirth.
Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Mazda Museum and Senjokaku. Popular historic sites such as Itsukushima Shrine and Mitaki Temple are in your itinerary. Explore Hiroshima's surroundings by going to JMSDF Kure Museum (in Kure), Hatsukaichi (Itsukushima Shrine Torii, Mikasahama Beach, &more) and Miyajima Omotesando Shopping Street (in Miyajima).
