The national capital for over a thousand years, Kyoto retains much of the charm of old Japan, boasting numerous temples and shrines that seem completely untouched by the modern world.
Visit Kinkaku-ji and Tenryuji Temple for their historical value. Get some cultural insight at Kiyomizu-dera Temple and Tofuku-ji Temple. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Kyoto: Ise Shrine Geku (in Ise), Koya-cho (Koyasan Daishi Kyokai, Kongobu-ji Temple, & more) and Hikone (Hikone Castle & 玄宮園 - Genkyūen Garden 玄宮園). There's lots more to do: steep yourself in history at Ninna-ji Temple, take in the spiritual surroundings of Shoren-in Temple (Shoren-in Monzeki), explore the historical opulence of Nijo Castle, and make a trip to Eikando Zenrinji Temple.

Onna-son, Japan

Located on the coast in the middle of the island, Onna-son has become known for its beaches and seaside economy.
Kick off your visit on the 15th (Mon): find your balance on the water with some of the best stand-up paddleboarding in the area, then shop like a local with Onna Station Nakayukui Market, and then discover the deep blue sea with a scuba or snorkeling tour.

Miyakojima
A city jurisdiction formed after the merger of several towns in 2005, Miyakojima spans six linked-up islands.
You'll discover tucked-away gems like Sunayama Beach and Irabu-jima Island. We've included these beaches for you: Aragusuku Beach and Toguchi no Hama.
