You might consider the city of Budapest, divided by the Danube River into two distinctive cities--Buda and Pest--to be essentially one large World Heritage Site.
Do some cultural sightseeing at Liberty Statue and Vajdahunyad Castle (Vajdahunyadvar). Get outdoors at Margaret Island and Ram Szakadek. Get out of town with these interesting Budapest side-trips: Esztergom Basilica / Cathedral (in Esztergom) and Lazar Equestrian Park (in Domony). There's still lots to do: examine the collection at Budapest Pinball Museum, contemplate the long history of Citadel, indulge in some culinary diversions at a local gastronomic tour, and don't miss a visit to 3d Gallery Budapest.

Plan my trip to Budapest with suggested itineraries provided by Inspirock.
