Known as one of the greatest small cities in the world, Amsterdam charms visitors with its cool and cozy atmosphere.
For shopping fun, head to The Mauritshuis Royal Picture Gallery or Renssen Art Gallery. Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Zaanse Schans and Kooijman Klompenmakerij. Step out of Amsterdam with an excursion to UNESCO World Heritage Kinderdijk in Kinderdijk--about 1h 20 min away. There's still lots to do: wander the streets of The Jordaan, examine the collection at Museum Ons' Lieve Heer op Solder, steep yourself in history at Begijnhof, and admire the masterpieces at Museum Het Rembrandthuis (Rembrandt House).
