Known as one of the greatest small cities in the world, Amsterdam charms visitors with its cool and cozy atmosphere.
You'll get in some beach time at Zandvoort aan Zee and Spiegelplas en Blijkpolderplas. Give yourself a bit of retail therapy at The Mauritshuis Royal Picture Gallery and Leidseplein. Spend the 10th (Sat) wandering through the wild on a nature and wildlife tour. There's still lots to do: get engrossed in the history at Anne Frank House, admire the masterpieces at Museum Het Rembrandthuis (Rembrandt House), wander the streets of The Jordaan, and indulge your thirst for a good beer at Heineken Experience.

San Francisco, USA to Amsterdam is an approximately 13.5-hour flight. You can also do a combination of flight and train. You'll lose 9 hours traveling from San Francisco to Amsterdam due to the time zone difference. In August, plan for daily highs up to 72°F, and evening lows to 56°F. Cap off your sightseeing on the 12th (Mon) early enough to go by car to Cologne.

Though Cologne famously contains 12 Romanesque churches, the city's top prize remains its landmark Gothic cathedral.
Kick off your visit on the 13th (Tue): admire the masterpieces at Museum Ludwig, then admire the striking features of Kolner Dom, then snap pictures at Hohenzollern Bridge, and finally see the interesting displays at Chocolate Museum. Get ready for a full day of sightseeing on the next day: wander the streets of Konigsallee, examine the collection at Motorworld, and then get engrossed in the history at Roman-German Museum (Romisch-Germanisches Museum).

Let the collections at Marienburg Fortress and Staedel Museum capture your imagination. Get some historical perspective at Würzburg Residence and Neroberg.
