A beautiful and romantic city fit for any itinerary, Paris brims with historic associations and remains vastly influential in the realms of culture, art, fashion, food and design.
Musee d'Orsay and Louvre Museum will appeal to museum buffs. Le Marais and Montmartre are good opportunities to explore the local culture. Step out of Paris with an excursion to Palace of Versailles in Versailles--about 48 minutes away. There's still lots to do: admire the landmark architecture of Basilique du Sacre-Coeur de Montmartre, wander the streets of Ile Saint-Louis, contemplate the long history of Sainte-Chapelle, and get a taste of the local shopping with Saint Germain des Pres Quarter.

Washington DC, USA to Paris is an approximately 12.5-hour combination of subway, bus, and flight. You can also fly; or do a combination of train and flight. Traveling from Washington DC to Paris, you'll lose 6 hours due to the time zone difference. Lyon is a historical city with a vibrant cultural scene as the birthplace of cinema, the silk capital of the globe, and the second biggest Renaissance city following Venice.
Basilique Notre Dame de Fourviere and Museum of Fine Arts of Lyon are good opportunities to explore the local culture. Head to Secrets d'Apiculteur and Les Halles de Lyon Paul Bocusefor some retail therapy. Change things up with a short trip to Cite medievale de Perouges in Perouges (about 38 minutes away). And it doesn't end there: learn about wildlife with up-close encounters at Parc de la Tete d'Or, examine the collection at Musee Miniature et Cinema, view the masterpieces at Galerie Estades Lyon, and get to know the fascinating history of Vieux Lyon.

Kick off your visit on the 3rd (Mon): get engrossed in the history at Maison de la Galerie, steep yourself in history at Musee Chateau, then take in the dramatic natural features at Les Gorges du Fier, and finally don't miss a visit to Pont des Amours. Get ready for a full day of sightseeing on the 4th (Tue): look for gifts at Meyer le Chocolatier, then examine the collection at Palais de l'Ile, and then steep yourself in history at Ville Ancienne.

Well-known for the beautiful views of its famous Promenade des Anglais waterfront, Nice is an ethnically-diverse coastal port city on the French Riviera and the fifth most populated city in France.
Vieille Ville and Cathedrale Saint-Nicolas are good opportunities to explore the local culture. Visit Cathedrale Sainte-Reparate and Eglise Saint Jean-Baptiste - Le Voeu for their historical value. Spend the 5th (Wed) exploring the fascinating underwater world at Marineland. There's more to do: admire the masterpieces at Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art and see the interesting displays at Musee Matisse.
