Ahmedabad

— 14 nights

Manchester of India

The state's commercial, if not political hub, Ahmedabad stands as a sprawling metropolis with some important historical sites.
Attractions like Sabarmati Ashram / Mahatma Gandhi's Home and Kankaria Lake make great kid-friendly stops. Venture out of the city with trips to Thol Lake Bird Sanctuary (in Mehsana), Vadodara (EME Temple, Sayaji Baug, &more) and Gandhinagar (Indroda Nature Park, Adalaj Trimandir, &more). The adventure continues: take in the waterfront at Sabarmati Riverfront, take in the spiritual surroundings of Camp Hanuman Mandir, admire the striking features of Adalaj Stepwell, and examine the collection at Auto World Vintage Car Museum.

To see reviews, ratings, photos, and tourist information, go to the Ahmedabad trip itinerary maker.

Use the Route module to find travel options from your starting location to Ahmedabad. In December, plan for daily highs up to 34°C, and evening lows to 15°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 4th (Sat) so you can travel to Jaipur.

Jaipur

— 3 nights

Pink City

Known as the "Pink City" because of the color of the stone used for many of its notable structures, Jaipur draws visitors with its chaotic street life and a slew of colorful bazaars selling everything from handmade pottery to tie-dye scarves.
Start off your visit on the 5th (Sun): admire nature's wide array of creatures at Deer Park, Ashok Vihar, Jaipur, then take a peaceful walk through Grass Farm Nursery, then get a dose of the wild on a nature and wildlife tour, and finally take an in-depth tour of General Amar Singh Kanota Museum & Library. Keep things going the next day: take an in-depth tour of City Palace of Jaipur, see the sky in a new way at Jantar Mantar - Jaipur, then explore the historical opulence of Amber Palace, and finally look for gifts at Jaipur Blue Pottery Art Centre.

To find other places to visit, where to stay, and other tourist information, refer to the Jaipur driving holiday planner.

Traveling by flight from Ahmedabad to Jaipur takes 3.5 hours. Alternatively, you can drive; or take a train. Prepare for little chillier weather when traveling from Ahmedabad in January: high temperatures in Jaipur hover around 26°C and lows are around 9°C. Wrap up your sightseeing by early afternoon on the 7th (Tue) to allow enough time to travel back home.
