Famed for its landscape of unusually shaped stone formations and churches cut into the natural rocks, Goreme sits in the central part of the country, an area originally settled during Roman times.
Head to Naile Art Gallery and Tribal Collections Nomadic Rugs and Textilesfor some retail therapy. Visit Goreme National Park and Güvercinlik Vadisi (Pigeon Valley) for their historical value. Get out of town with these interesting Goreme side-trips: Selime Monastery (in Guzelyurt) and Hacıbektaş Veli Müzesi (in Nevsehir).
