Called "Oporto" by many, the city of Porto along the Duoro River lent the country and Port wine their names. Portugal's second-largest metropolis dates back to the 4th century, representing both a rich cultural past and industrial present through its architecture and style.
Sao Bento Railway Station has been added to your itinerary. Satisfy your inner culture vulture at Palacio da Bolsa and Porto Cathedral (Se Catedral). Dedicate the 24th (Tue) to wine at some of the top wineries in the area. There's lots more to do: snap pictures at Ponte de Dom Luis I, take in panoramic vistas at Torre dos Clerigos, and contemplate the waterfront views at Rio Douro.

Built on seven hills, Lisbon has experienced a renaissance in recent years, making it the cultural star of Portugal.
Belém Tower and Park and National Palace of Pena will appeal to history buffs. Mosteiro dos Jeronimos and Castelo de S. Jorge are good opportunities to explore the local culture. Step out of Lisbon with an excursion to Quinta da Regaleira in Sintra--about 36 minutes away. The adventure continues: wander the streets of Avenida da Liberdade and take in the views from Ponte 25 de Abril.

Traveling by flight from Porto to Lisbon takes 2.5 hours. Alternatively, you can take a train; or drive. While traveling from Porto, expect somewhat warmer days and about the same nights in Lisbon, ranging from highs of 81°F to lows of 61°F. A city of rich Moorish heritage, Seville is the cultural and financial center of southern Spain, and the site of numerous festivals throughout the year.
On the 29th (Sun), appreciate the extensive heritage of Barrio Santa Cruz and then steep yourself in history at Plaza de España. On the 30th (Mon), you'll have a packed day of sightseeing: steep yourself in history at Plaza de Toros de la Maestranza, explore the historical opulence of Royal Alcázar of Seville, then take in panoramic vistas at Torre Giralda, and finally get great views at Catedral de Sevilla.

Getting from Lisbon to Seville by flight takes about 4 hours. Other options: drive; or do a combination of flight and bus. The time zone changes from Western European Time (WET) to Central European Time (CET), which is usually a 1 hour difference. Expect a daytime high around 83°F in September, and nighttime lows around 63°F. You will have some time to spend on the 1st (Tue) before leaving for Barcelona.
