Granada boasts numerous well-preserved examples of exquisite Moorish architecture, not the least of which is the Alhambra, an ancient citadel and royal palace.
Get outdoors at Nerja Donkey Sanctuary and Jardin Botanico Detunda Cueva De Nerja. Alhambra and Generalife are good opportunities to explore the local culture. Step out of Granada with an excursion to Fundación Cueva de Nerja in Nerja--about 1h 10 min away. There's much more to do: wander the streets of Albayzin, get to know the fascinating history of Plaza de los Aljibes, explore the historical opulence of Nasrid Palaces, and take in the architecture and atmosphere at Basilica de San Juan de Dios.

Getting from Barcelona to Granada by flight takes about 4.5 hours. Other options: do a combination of flight and train; or drive. Traveling from Barcelona in December, you can expect nighttime temperatures to be slightly colder in Granada, with lows of 2°C. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 20th (Fri) so you can go by car to Ronda.

Deepen your sense of the past at sights like Baños Arabes and Iglesia de Nuestra Señora de la Merced Ronda. Escape the urban bustle at El Tajo de Ronda and El Torcal de Antequera. Go for a jaunt from Ronda to Casares to see Riding Fun In The Sun about 1h 15 min away. There's lots more to do: do a tasting at Dona Felisa Winery, browse the exhibits of Centro de Interpretacion del Puente Nuevo, take a stroll through Old City, and take in the architecture and atmosphere at Iglesia de Santa Maria la Mayor.

You can drive from Granada to Ronda in 2.5 hours. Alternatively, you can take a train; or take a bus. Traveling from Granada in December, Ronda is a bit warmer at night with lows of 7°C. Cap off your sightseeing on the 23rd (Mon) early enough to catcht the bus to Seville.

Change things up with a short trip to Parque Nacional de Donana in Huelva (about 1h 10 min away).
