One of Poland's oldest cities, Krakow sits at the foot of the Carpathian Mountains, its historical town center nestled on the left bank of the Vistula River.
Do your shopping at Galeria Krakowska and Asortyment Shop. Get a sense of the local culture at Polish Aviation Museum and Rynek (Old Square) Underground. Home to Poland's indigenous Goral people, Zakopane sits at the foothill of the Tatra Mountains, an area serving as one of the country's most fashionable year-round vacation getaways.
Get some cultural insight at Cmentarz Zasluzonych na Peksowym Brzyzku and Muzeum Nikifora Krynickiego. Step out of the city life by going to Pieniński Park Narodowy and Giewont Mountain. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Zakopane: The Black Pond (in Tatra National Park) and Jaworzyna Krynicka (in Krynica-Zdroj). You'll explore the less-touristy side of things at Obraz Czarnej Madonny and Pomnik Czestochowskich Zydow.
