The largest city on the island, Fukuoka formed through the merger of two former cities that had grown up either side of the Naka River.
Start off your visit on the 29th (Sat): walk around Maizuru Park, steep yourself in history at Fukuoka Castle Ruins, then let the kids burn off some steam at Ohori Park, and finally visit Shintencho Shopping Street.

Seoul, South Korea to Fukuoka is an approximately 5- hour combination of train and flight. You can also fly; or do a combination of train and ferry. Traveling from Seoul in February, things will get somewhat warmer in Fukuoka: highs are around 12°C and lows about 3°C. You will have some time to spend on the 1st (Sun) before leaving for Kitakyushu.
