Located near the memorial park marking the site of one of the largest Civil War battles, the town of Gettysburg sits in a landscape of rolling green hills with views of the Blue Ridge Mountains in the distance.
You'll find plenty of places to visit near Gettysburg: Antietam National Battlefield (in Sharpsburg), Museum of the Shenandoah Valley (in Winchester) and Harpers Ferry (River Riders & Harpers Ferry National Historical Park). There's lots more to do: stroll around Gettysburg National Military Park, explore the different monuments and memorials at Gettysburg National Cemetery, tour the pleasant surroundings at Devils Den, and examine the collection at Gettysburg Museum of History.

Midland to Gettysburg is an approximately 7-hour combination of flight and car. You can also drive. Traveling from Midland in September, Gettysburg is a bit warmer at night with lows of 57°F. You will have some time to spend on the 22nd (Tue) before leaving for Shenandoah National Park.
