Let the collections at Musee d'Orsay and Chateau de Chantilly capture your imagination. Take a break from the city and head to Île de la Cité and Seine River. Amboise is a commune in the Indre-et-Loire department in central France. On the 31st (Tue), take an in-depth tour of Eglise Saint-Florentin, then get engrossed in the history at Le Chateau du Clos Luce - Parc Leonardo da Vinci, and then explore the historical opulence of Chateau Royal d'Amboise. Get ready for a full day of sightseeing on the 1st (Wed): explore the striking landscape at Les Grottes Petrifiantes and then admire the natural beauty at Chateau de Villandry.

An ancient town center surrounded by medieval ramparts, Avignon is a major city of Provence and a Mediterranean city in the Vaucluse department on the left bank of the Rhône River.
Get a sense of the local culture at Palais des Papes and Ile de la Barthelasse. Get outdoors at Le Sentier des Ocres and Parcours de L'Art. Change things up with these side-trips from Avignon: Espiguette Beach (in Le Grau-du-Roi), Veloroute du Calavon (in Apt) and Colline Saint-Eutrope (in Orange).

Getting from Amboise to Avignon by combination of flight and train takes about 4.5 hours. Other options: do a combination of car, flight, and train; or drive. Prepare for a bit warmer weather when traveling from Amboise in June: high temperatures in Avignon hover around 83°F and lows are around 60°F. Finish your sightseeing early on the 6th (Mon) so you can drive to Nice.
