Situated on the confluence of the rivers Ouse and Foss, York has witnessed an abundance of major political events throughout its two millennia of existence.
Start off your visit on the 29th (Tue): examine the collection at York Castle Museum, then get engrossed in the history at National Railway Museum, then wander the streets of York Shambles, and finally explore the ancient world of York City Walls.
