Bagheria

— 16 nights
Bagheria is a town and comune in the Metropolitan City of Palermo in Sicily, Italy.EtymologyAccording to some sources, the name Bagheria originates from the Phoenician term Bayharia meaning "land that descends toward the sea." Other sources claim that it derives from the Arabic Bāb al-Gerib, or "windy gateway." However, the most plausible explanation is that it drives from Arabic بحرية '''', meaning 'of the sea, marine'.HistorySince its founding, the town has gone by the names of Bayharia, Baharia, and Baarìa. You've now added Madrice di Bagheria to your itinerary. Visiting Sicilia Sub Diving Center and Lido Fondachello will get you outdoors. Give yourself a bit of retail therapy at La Bottega nella Roccia and Drago Artecontemporanea. Get out of town with these interesting Bagheria side-trips: Duomo di Monreale (in Monreale), Piana degli Albanesi (Memoriale di Portella delle Ginestre & Lago di Piana degli Albanesi) and Caccamo (Parrocchia Ss. Annunziata, Castello di Caccamo, &more). There's much more to do: examine the collection at Museo dell'Acciuga, head outdoors with Monte Cammarata, steep yourself in history at Villa Palagonia, and get engrossed in the history at Villa Sant’Isidoro De Cordova.
