Tokyo holds the status of most populous metropolitan area in the world--a fact you'll find tangible as you walk the bustling streets and explore its diverse neighborhoods and cultures.
Tokyo Big Sight has been added to your itinerary. Get a sense of the local culture at Senso-ji Temple and Ghibli Museum Mitaka. Take a break from the city and head to Rental Kimono Sakura and Tokyo Dome City. There's lots more to do: see the interesting displays at Edo-Tokyo Museum, get curious at National Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation Miraikan, admire the striking features of Tokyo Tower, and make a trip to Meiji Jingu Shrine.

Melbourne, Australia to Tokyo is an approximately 14- hour combination of flight and train. You can also fly; or do a combination of train and flight. Due to the time zone difference, you'll gain 1 hour traveling from Melbourne to Tokyo. While traveling from Melbourne, expect colder days and slightly colder nights in Tokyo, ranging from highs of 17°C to lows of 7°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 29th (Fri) to allow enough time to take a train to Kyoto.

The national capital for over a thousand years, Kyoto retains much of the charm of old Japan, boasting numerous temples and shrines that seem completely untouched by the modern world.
Your day-by-day itinerary now includes Monkey Park Iwatayama as well as Kyoto Sagano Walk & Bamboo Forest. Fushimi Inari-taisha Shrine and Nijo Castle are good opportunities to explore the local culture. You'll explore and learn at Osaka Shiritsu Toyo Toji Museum and Kyoto International Manga Museum. Change things up with these side-trips from Kyoto: Dotombori District (in Dotombori) and Nara (Todaiji Temple Cultural Center & Nara Park). There's still lots to do: make a trip to Kiyomizu-dera Temple, admire the masterpieces at Hosomi Museum, take in the exciting artwork at Asahiyaki, and wander the streets of Gion.

Traveling by train from Tokyo to Kyoto takes 2.5 hours. Alternatively, you can fly; or drive. Expect a daytime high around 16°C in March, and nighttime lows around 5°C. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 3rd (Wed) so you can catch the train to Hiroshima.

You can take a train from Kyoto to Hiroshima in 2 hours. Other options are to drive; or take a bus. In April, daily temperatures in Hiroshima can reach 22°C, while at night they dip to 13°C. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 4th (Thu) so you can catch the train to Tokyo.
