Snaking up the side of a rounded, tree-dotted hill, Hobart sits between Tasmania’s sprawling mountains and the vast estuary of the River Derwent.
Get outdoors at Russell Falls and The Neck. Museum-lovers will appreciate Richmond Gaol and Maritime Museum of Tasmania. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Hobart: Raptor Refuge (in Kettering), Horseshoe Falls (in Mount Field National Park) and Willie Smiths Organic Apple Cider (in Huonville). And it doesn't end there: take in the spiritual surroundings of St. David's Cathedral, wander the streets of North Hobart, stop by The Wicked Cheese Co., and do a tasting at Moorilla Estate Winery.

You can drive from Eaglehawk Neck to Hobart in 1.5 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of taxi and bus. In August in Hobart, expect temperatures between 15°C during the day and 4°C at night. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 30th (Sun) so you can go by car to Coles Bay.

Overlooking one of Tasmania's most scenic strips of coastline and serving as the gateway to Freycinet National Park, Coles Bay is home to just 500 permanent residents.
Step out of the city life by going to Freycinet National Park and Nature & Wildlife Tours. Get a sense of the local culture at Devil's Corner Cellar Door and Spiky Bridge. When in Coles Bay, make a side trip to see East Coast Natureworld in Bicheno, approximately Bicheno away. The adventure continues: take a tour by water with Boat Tours & Water Sports and enjoy the sand and surf at Friendly Beaches.
