Originally a small fishing village, Portimão today serves as one of the most populated towns in the Algarve and also a favorite spot for sailing.
Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Ponta Da Piedale and Falesia Beach. Deepen your sense of the past at sights like Cape Saint Vincent and Old Town Faro. Venture out of the city with trips to Lagos (Praia do Camilo, Praia Dona Ana, & more), Faro Cathedral (in Faro) and Speed Boats Tours (in Albufeira). The adventure continues: enjoy the sand and surf at Praia Da Rocha, take in the waterfront at Alvor Boardwalk, and tour the pleasant surroundings at Praia da Marinha.

You'll explore the less-touristy side of things at Capela dos Ossos and Centro Historico de Evora. You'll explore and learn at Cella Vinaria Antiqua and Megalithica Ebora. Change things up with these side-trips from Evora: Monsaraz Castle and Walls (in Monsaraz) and Castelo de Marvao (in Marvao). Fátima is a civil parish in the municipality of Ourém, in the Portuguese Santarém District. You'll explore the less-touristy side of things at Basilica de Nossa Senhora do Rosario de Fatima and Monastery of Alcobaca. Get some historical perspective at Batalha Monastery and Castelo de Tomar. Explore Fatima's surroundings by going to Convent of Christ (in Tomar) and Obidos (Castelo de Óbidos & Obidos Village). Next up on the itinerary: take in the spiritual surroundings of Capela Das Aparicoes, admire the masterpieces at Museu de Aguarela de Alfredo Roque Gameiro, and take in the architecture and atmosphere at Capelas Imperfeitas.

Expect little chillier weather when traveling from Evora in September: highs in Fatima hover around 28°C, while lows dip to 16°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 15th (Tue) to allow enough time to take a bus to Lisbon.

Built on seven hills, Lisbon has experienced a renaissance in recent years, making it the cultural star of Portugal.
Museum-lovers will appreciate Museu Nacional do Azulejo and National Museum of Ancient Art. Visit Mosteiro dos Jeronimos and Quinta da Regaleira for their historical value. Get out of town with these interesting Lisbon side-trips: Sintra (Castelo dos Mouros & Park and National Palace of Pena). There's lots more to do: contemplate the long history of Castelo de S. Jorge, take in the exciting artwork at Museu Calouste Gulbenkian, contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Igreja de Sao Roque, and take in the views from Ponte 25 de Abril.
