Considered the country's capital of culture, Trujillo was the birthplace of the North Group, a community of artists and intellectuals that included celebrated poet Cesar Vallejo and notable novelist Ciro Alegria.
Discover out-of-the-way places like Casa de la Emancipacion and Casa Urquiaga (Casa Calonge). Visit Chan Chan and Huaca El Dragon for their historical value. There's still lots to do: contemplate the long history of La Huaca del Sol, see the interesting displays at Museo del Juguete Antiguo, tour the pleasant surroundings at Huanchaco Al Rescate, and browse the exhibits of Palacio Iturregui.

Chimbote is the largest city in the Ancash Region of Peru, and the capital of both Santa Province and Chimbote District.The city is located on the coast in Chimbote Bay, 130 km south of Trujillo and 420km north of Lima on the North Pan-American highway. On the 9th (Tue), tour the pleasant surroundings at Las Loberas, then pause for some serene contemplation at Catedral Nuestra Senora del Carmen y San Pedro Apostol, and then take in the architecture and atmosphere at Catedral San Pedro.

Traveling by car from Trujillo to Chimbote takes 2.5 hours. Traveling from Trujillo in June, Chimbote is a bit warmer at night with lows of 24°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 9th (Tue) to allow time to drive to Casma.

Casma is a city in the Ancash Region, Peru. On the 10th (Wed), kick back and relax at Playa Tortugas and then explore the ancient world of Cerro Sechin. Get ready for a full day of sightseeing on the next day: stroll through Playa Las Gemelas and then stroll through Playa la Gramita.
