Osaka

— 7 nights
Proud of their hometown's distinct culture and dialect, many natives of Osaka describe their city as "Japan's anti-capital." An antidote to Tokyo's hectic energy, Osaka marches to the beat of its own drum, serving as the country's longtime commercial and industrial hub.
Step off the beaten path and head to Itami Sky Park and Tempozan Ferris Wheel. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Osaka: Nara (Nara National Museum, Nigatsu-do Temple, &more), Kyoto (Toji, Tofuku-ji Temple, &more) and Awaji (Izanagi Shrine, Akashi Kaikyo National Government Park, &more). There's lots more to do: find something for the whole family at Universal Studios Japan, pause for some photo ops at Showa Tenno no Kahi, shop like a local with Hankyu Umeda Honten, and explore the activities along Shurakuen.

To find other places to visit, more things to do, traveler tips, and more tourist information, read Osaka day trip planning app.
