The port city of Kochi has a rich and varied history that has left its mark on the look and feel of the urban area.
Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Chikurinji Temple and Godaisan Park. Get out of town with these interesting Kochi side-trips: Shoryuji Temple (in Tosa), Ittohyo Chinka Bridge (in Shimanto-cho) and Hayase no Ipponbashi (in Tsuno-cho). There's still lots to do: head outdoors with Wanpaku Kochi, take in the spiritual surroundings of Tosa Shrine, appreciate the views at Shikoku Karst, and get to know the fascinating history of Ekingura.

You can drive from Kochi to Otoyo-cho in an hour. In April in Otoyo-cho, expect temperatures between 22°C during the day and 14°C at night. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 14th (Sun) to allow time to drive to Miyoshi.

A relatively new city, Miyoshi encompasses six surrounding rural districts into one.
Your day by day itinerary now includes Iya Onsen. Discover out-of-the-way places like Onsen Resorts and Unbenji Temple. Get out of town with these interesting Miyoshi side-trips: Kanonji (Toyohama Service Area Down Line, Hōnen'ike Dam, &more), Kirihataji Temple (in Awa) and Mt. Tsurugi (in Mima).
