A city jurisdiction formed after the merger of several towns in 2005, Miyakojima spans six linked-up islands.
On the 2nd (Sat), enjoy the sand and surf at Sunayama Beach, paddle through the water with a kayaking and canoeing tour, then head outdoors with Aragusuku Beach, then get a new perspective on things with Boat Tours & Water Sports, and finally take in the views from Irabu Ohashi. Here are some ideas for day two: see the vivid underwater world at Yabiji, enjoy the sand and surf at Yonaha Maehama Beach, then head off the coast to Shimojiiima Island, then enjoy the sand and surf at Toguchi no Hama, and finally head off the coast to Irabu-jima Island.

Ishigaki, the most populous island in the chain, features the country's southernmost city and acts as a transport hub for exploring the landmasses that surround.
Kick off your visit on the 6th (Wed): head outdoors with Cape Hirakubozaki, take in panoramic vistas at Tamatorizaki Observatory, head outdoors with Yonehara Beach, then glide peacefully along the water with some of the best stand-up paddleboarding in the area, and finally take in the exciting artwork at Nei Museum of Art. Traveling by ferry from Iriomote-jima to Ishigaki takes an hour. In November, daily temperatures in Ishigaki can reach 31°C, while at night they dip to 25°C. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 7th (Thu) so you can travel to Kyoto.

You can do a combination of flight and train from Ishigaki to Kyoto in 6 hours. Alternatively, you can fly. Traveling from Ishigaki in November, you will find days in Kyoto are a bit cooler (19°C), and nights are colder (10°C). Wrap up your sightseeing on the 9th (Sat) early enough to take a train to Kanazawa.
