Start off your visit on the 12th (Thu): enjoy the sand and surf at Kondoi Beach and then take a leisurely stroll along Nishi Pier. A city jurisdiction formed after the merger of several towns in 2005, Miyakojima spans six linked-up islands.
Get in touch with nature at Scuba & Snorkeling and Sunayama Beach. Family-friendly places like Aragusuku Beach and Toguchi no Hama will thrill your kids. Located on the coast in the middle of the island, Onna-son has become known for its beaches and seaside economy.
Discover out-of-the-way places like Nakijin Castle Ruins and Katsuren Castle Ruins. Do some cultural sightseeing at Nakagusuku Castle Ruins and Zakimi Castle Ruins. Explore Onna-son's surroundings by going to Okinawa Peace Memorial Park (in Itoman), Motobu-cho (Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium & Okichan Theater) and Sefa-Utaki (in Nanjo). Getting from Miyakojima to Onna-son by flight takes about 4.5 hours. Traveling from Miyakojima in December, you can expect nighttime temperatures to be little chillier in Onna-son, with lows of 15°C. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 21st (Sat) so you can travel to Kyoto.

Fly from Onna-son to Kyoto in 7 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of taxi, ferry, and train; or do a combination of bus, ferry, and train. Prepare for a bit cooler weather when traveling from Onna-son in December: high temperatures in Kyoto hover around 13°C and lows are around 4°C. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 24th (Tue) so you can travel to Tokyo.
