Kick off your visit on the 4th (Fri): contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Kinkaku-ji, steep yourself in history at Kitano Tenmangu Shrine, then wander the streets of Gion, and finally take a stroll through Shinbashi Dori. On the 5th (Sat), you'll have a packed day of sightseeing: get a taste of the local shopping with Nishiki Market Shopping District, steep yourself in history at Ninna-ji Temple, then take a peaceful walk through Arashiyama Bamboo Grove, then take in the pleasant sights at Arashiyama, and finally meet the residents at Monkey Park Iwatayama.

Traveling by train from Tokyo to Kyoto takes 3 hours. Alternatively, you can fly; or drive. In October in Kyoto, expect temperatures between 27°C during the day and 18°C at night. Wrap up your sightseeing by early afternoon on the 6th (Sun) to allow time for the train ride to Osaka.

Proud of their hometown's distinct culture and dialect, many natives of Osaka describe their city as "Japan's anti-capital." An antidote to Tokyo's hectic energy, Osaka marches to the beat of its own drum, serving as the country's longtime commercial and industrial hub.
You've added Don Quijote, Osaka Castle, Akiba Kart Osaka, and other attractions to your itinerary. Toshodaiji Temple and Nigatsu-do Temple will appeal to history buffs. Get a sense of the local culture at Nara Park and Himuro Shrine. When in Osaka, make a side trip to see Nara National Museum in Nara, approximately 1 hour away.
